Eerie is an environmental measuring instrument for iPhone. It measures infrasound, magnetic field, vibration and sound against the baseline of the room it is sitting in, and reports what it found — including when it found nothing.
Get in touch: [email protected]
I read every message. If something isn't working, please say which iPhone you have and what you were doing — there is a "Get in touch" button in the app's Settings that fills that in for you.
Nothing is registering — is it broken?
Probably not. Eerie only reports changes from the room's own baseline, so a room that is steadily noisy needs a larger change before anything registers. Each reading shows the smallest change it would currently notice ("registers a change above 24 mg"), and the app says plainly when a room is too busy for small changes to show.
It says "waiting for the phone to settle" and won't start.
Something is disturbing the phone. Eerie will not begin measuring until the phone has been still for a few seconds, because calibrating while it is being handled teaches it the wrong baseline. Put it on a hard surface — a table, not a bed or a sofa — and let go.
Why does it take so long to start?
About 25 seconds for magnetic field and vibration, about 40 for infrasound. Infrasound frames arrive roughly once a second, so it genuinely needs that long before it has enough measurements to know what is normal. There is also a countdown so you can leave the room before measuring begins.
Does it record audio?
No. Sound becomes numbers as it arrives and the audio itself is discarded immediately. Nothing is written to storage, nothing can be played back, and nothing is transmitted.
A notification made it register something.
A notification is a buzz and a sound at the same instant, which looks exactly like a real two-channel reading. No app can silence another app's alerts, so set a Focus that allows no people and no apps before you start. Alarms, timers and low battery warnings ignore Focus entirely — clear any alarms, and keep the phone charging for a long session.
I bought it and it is asking me to pay again.
Tap "Restore purchase" in Settings. Eerie is a single purchase tied to your Apple Account, so it should restore on any device signed in to the same account.
Does it detect ghosts?
No, and it never will. It reports what the sensors read against the room's own baseline. Any app claiming to detect a presence is making it up.
