Pausely pauses visits from the people who help at home — your cleaner, gardener, dog walker or pet sitter. It writes the text, you press send, and it remembers that you sent it.

There is no account to recover and no password to reset, so please just describe what happened and which iPhone and iOS version you are on.

Common questions

Does the person I'm texting need the app? No. Pausely sends an ordinary text message. They need nothing but a phone that receives texts, and they never have to know the app exists.

How does Pausely know they got my message? It doesn't. iOS gives apps no access to your messages, so no app can tell you whether a text was delivered or read. Pausely records that the message was sent; when someone replies, you tap "They replied" and it records that you marked it.

Can it send messages automatically while I'm away? No. iOS has no way for an app to send a text on its own. Pausely opens the standard Messages sheet with everything filled in, and you press send.

Does it cost anything to send? Nothing beyond your normal phone plan. Messages go out as an ordinary SMS or iMessage from your own number.

Something isn't working

"This iPhone can't send text messages right now" Pausely checks whether the device can send before offering to pause. This message means iOS reported that it can't. Check that you have mobile service, or that iMessage is switched on in Settings → Messages. The Simulator and Wi-Fi-only iPads cannot send messages at all.

The upgrade says it isn't available That usually means the App Store couldn't be reached. Check your connection and try again. If you have already bought Pausely Pro, use Restore purchase in Settings — it is a one-off purchase tied to your Apple Account, so it will come back on any iPhone you sign in with.

Trip detection isn't finding my holiday Three things to check, in this order:

1. Trip detection is part of Pausely Pro.
2. In Settings → Trip detection, at least one calendar must be ticked. Nothing is ticked to begin with — that is deliberate, so Pausely never reads a calendar you didn't choose.
3. Pausely looks 60 days ahead, and is deliberately cautious. It looks for all-day events spanning more than one day with a word like "holiday", "flight" or "trip" in the name, and ignores anything that looks like it is about a trip rather than a trip itself, such as "holiday insurance renewal".

You can always add a trip by hand instead.

I added a helper but can't add another The free version covers two helpers. Pausely Pro is a one-off payment and removes the limit. Nothing you have entered is ever deleted or hidden to enforce this.
